Why Root Acer Iconia A500?
Rooting gives you root access to areas you don’t have access to in the stock version. You can also invert custom boot animations, back up your files in case you need to factory reset for easy retrieval, use apps that need root access to work, or install custom themes.
Wi-Fi Issues with Rooting
If the tablet has a weak Wi-Fi signal after rooting, try a factory reset before rooting it again. After you reset to factory, install Acer Iconia Tab Enhancement Tool off the Play Store before updating, then update ICS. After ICS update, do another factory reset to put you on fresh, ICS stock ROM.
Thanks to RobKort, dgstorm, and LordZilo for the tips. This is said to also work with stock ROM.
